The effect I was interested in creating here was to CNC carve graphics into the curved guitar body and then inlay it. The challenge of course with inlaying a curved top solid body is keeping a constant cut depth. The first thing to do was to 3D scan the body and generate a true 3D model of the guitar. On this I could then lay the 2D artwork and machine it out.
I think the effect works really well. A custom guitar is born.
The customer was blown away, which is great!
